Kathryn Li (she/her) is a Chinese American graphic designer, illustrator, and writer who thinks fondly about
the twisty subway lines of Shanghai and the yellow hills of San José, California. She graduated from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with a BFA in Illustration and a Concentration in Literary Arts & Studies.
She is currently a Children’s Design Fellow at Chronicle Books and an Artist/Designer at San José Strong, and has previously worked with the Center for Urban Pedagogy and Barefoot Books.
Her creative practice is driven by a desire to understand the world and imagine more thoughtful ways of being in it. A problem solver fascinated by people, nature, color, and motion, she is influenced by the literature, indie games, music theory, and nerdy humor that she has consumed since childhood.
